Open Source / Free Software

I use many pieces of open source or free software on a daily basis to get my work done. I sometimes forget what I liked to use for "X" task. This page I will plan on keeping up-to-date with my software of choice at the time for a given task. I hope this might be helpful for others looking to do similar things.
Application Cost Purpose
Nagios $0 Network / Server Monitoring. Can monitor just about anything. Custom plugin development isn't too difficult
Cacti $0 Graphing Bandwidth / Trending Data, such as disk usage, CPU usage, memory usage, etc...
Wakka Wiki $0 Wiki System. Useful as a self updating intranet. At a minimum it is useful for IT documentation or developer documentation. Easy to keep updated. I would look for something with LDAP authentication support in the future. That's the only quip I have with this package.
MySQL $0 Database! As if that's really a question.
VMWare Server $0 - currently The basic server version is available for Windows and Linux. It is currently free, however, I would use their commercial offering as requirements and budget would allow. This is great to use for proof of concepts when you don't want have to dedicate hardware for a specific function or test of an application.
IP Plan $0 IP Address Management. I used to use a spreadsheet, but found this and find it much easier to keep up-to-date. I wish the printing options were more flexible. I may extend the application in the future if this becomes a greater need of mine. LDAP authentication is desired as well.
Fedora Directory Server $0 LDAP Directory. I am currently using this as a central authentication datastore. If I had Microsoft Servers I would opt to use Active Directory instead. Not necessarily because I like it better, but it would reduce my implementation time on many things since I can typically hack "normal" ldap authentication schemes to work against Active Directory with little fuss, but have had trouble getting Samba/AD integration with any open source LDAP servers. This is based off of Sun's directory server which turned into Netscape's then iPlanet's (or the other way around) so it has a long enterprise feature history.
Scalix or Communigate Pro $0 Mail Server
Fedora Linux $0 Main Operating System. I'm a Fedora Core guy. Currently using mainly C3, but 2 C4 systems and a few C5 systems.
Subversion $0 Source Control
Request Tracker (RT) $0 Helpdesk Software
UltraVNC SC $0 Remote Desktop Support Tool - Similar to WebEx, GoToAssist, etc...
Proxy Application $0 Anonymizing Proxy Server - Can also be used to test basic http traffic from "outside" of your current location. It isn't quick, isn't meant to be, meant to be functional and it works ok.

I just started using a fantastic online video editing service from One True Media. It's pretty bad ass. It lets you upload video, photos, and your own music and mash them together to create a DVD or photobook. I'm more into the DVD thing and think I'll use this for christmas presents this year. In any case I started up a frapper site just to play with and am curios where people are coming from.

Here's where I'll be putting together a slew of links of software and places I go to get things done. There will be little in the way of personal information as we all know identity theft is on the rise and I don't want my fragile little identity stolen. However, if you are curious as to who I am, click here. For those that care, I'm a Linux / Unix head and will be putting up here a collection of scripts and such that I've written so that I can reference them in the future and so that I can point people to them in the future should they become relevant.
